Entrance Fees 2011:

Adults: 1.250 ISK

Children (6-14 years): 500 ISK

Senior Citizens (from 65 years): 900 ISK

Groups (+10): Adults: 900 ISK, children: 400 ISK

2010 - A Year of Renovation at the Whale Museum

In the spring the entrance was moved to a restored area in the eastern part of the museum which now hosts the tourist information centre for Húsavík, together with the museum´s store.

It is still quite early in the season but the museum’s researchers have already been out on the whale watching boats several times to collect data and take pictures of whales that have been sighted during the trips.

Period of Daily Opening Extended

The Húsavík Whale Museum will be open every day from 10:00 to 14:00 until October 20th.

Record breaking numbers of visitors to the Whale Museum in August

Visitor numbers in August 2009 surpass visitor numbers in August from the opening of the Whale Museum in 1997.

Visitors to the Whale Museum in August 2009 were 8.850 as compared to 5.900 in August 2008, giving an increase of 50%.

Humpback Whales in the Bay and Nice Weather

After a spell of bad weather the sun is shining in Húsavík again and a humbpack was seen in the bay this morning so things are looking quite good for the last part of the season.

The Travels of a Blue Whale

23rd of June, earlier this summer, a team of researchers tagged a blue whale in Skjálfandi Bay, hoping to get more information on the travels of the species.

In June and July the Whale Museum received around 30% more visitors this year than during the same period last year.
