The Resumption of Commercial Whaling
On the 17th of October 2006, Iceland’s fisheries minister Einar K. Gudfinsson announced the decision to resume commercial whaling in a “sustainable way”, justifying its decision with the whale’s impact on the fish stocks.

It is still quite early in the season but the museum’s researchers have already been out on the whale watching boats several times to collect data and take pictures of whales that have been sighted during the trips.
