Whale Day
For the first time, the Whale Museum organized a “Whale Day” for the purpose of fundraising. The idea came from the summer staff, who did most of the preparations. Major features of the event were an info stand about the whale research, a photo wall, face painting, a drawing competition for the children, a counting competition “How many whale teeth are to be found in the Museum”, and last but not least, grilled hot dogs, cakes and Icelandic pastries, waffles, coffee and light beverages. Although the weather was not very co-operative, it was considered a success. For the first time, the number of visitors reached a record high of nearly 400 individual travelers. Much time and energy was put into the preparations, but by the end of the day everyone agreed that it was well worth the effort.
