From July 23^rd - 29^th , Húsavík celebrated the annual traditional Mærudagar (“sweets-days”) together with the Swedish days in respect of the first settler in 860, who was a Swedish Viking, although not officially acknowledged since he left again after 6 months.

The daring optimism to disregard the rather devastating weather forecast proved correct: it was mostly sunny! Many events like the Icelandic-Norwegian handicraft market were a huge success and the Museum made its facilities available for a knot-tying workshop and the well visited “Kveðjandi” (the Icelandic poem readings).
