French Exhibition Team in Húsavík
On the 26th of May, the expedition team of "Expedition around America" (http://www.69nord.com/) visited Húsavík, which was the first stop on their one-year-long journey through the North-west passage. Having started in Norway, the team will continue sailing along the American west coast, crossing the Panama channel and head up north again.
The expedition is part of a scientific program on global warming. The crew is producing a documentary of their journey, including footage and interviews of local entrepreneurs presenting their work and giving insight on the meaning of global warming in each region respectively. The documentary will undoubtedly show the cultural differences in how to approach a global problem.
The Whale Museum was given the chance to contribute to the documentary, by interpreting the exhibition, referring to distributional changes of whale species in the past years and commenting on aspects of global warming.
