Ice Climate Education Camp 2008 in Húsavík
The Ice Climate Education Camp 2008 (I.C.E) organized by Arved Fuchs, a German expedition leader, has now started to be held in Húsavík and the Whale Museum. (see news from the 28th of March). Students from all over the world took part in a competition to qualify for the I.C.E. Fourteen were selected and invited to participate in this workshop, which is about Global Warming and its possible effects on the Arctic Region. The participants are from the following countries: Germany, Austria, Estonia, Cyprus, Russia, Israel, South Africa, Namibia, Columbia, Nicaragua and Canada. An Icelandic student had been invited to in order to represent the hosting country.
The official beginning of the workshop was yesterday and it started with a briefing, introduction and a guiding in the Whale Museum. The Museum will host the I.C.E. for its entire duration from the 10th - 21st of August.
