I.C.E.Camp Ended Today

The I.C.E. Camp ended today after various field trips, visits and the accomplishment of assigned projects. The last couple of days were spent in the museum. Apart from a lecture about the history of whaling, the Museum's Marine Biologist, Arianna Cecchetti, introduced the research on whales in Skjálfandi Bay, its purpose and how it is applied. In the afternoon, the participants had the opportunity to go on a whale watching trip and see for themselves.

The last day was dedicated to presentations of the participants about the possible effects of climate change in their home countries considering nature, economy, culture and tourism.

The crew of Arved Fuchs and the 15 participants will leave Húsavík satisfied and with lots of new impressions to take to their home countries. Amazingly enough, this interesting event remained rather unnoticed by the local press. Nevertheless, the Museum is hoping to continue with supporting this project and is looking forward to possibly welcome them again at next years I.C.E. Camp in Húsavík.
